So today I get a message from my supplier regarding the price cap for domestic
It turns out I will pay 52p for my electric and 15p for my gas per KwH ( unit) this isa a price roughly 6 times what I was paying for my total energy 2 years ago.
I am not complaining I can just cut a holiday but it is going to put so many in a terrible situation.
But this is not agricultural you think read on
However I was a little surprised at these figures , since I recall last week announcements about industrial users getting a 21p cap on electric
so I looked a little further and yes I was right all industrial users are going to have a cap on their bills but only on the electricity costs , and gas but I wont go there as it will affect very few farmers.
in fact this cap will only apply to 29% of your bill which makes it likely that the average farm bill will be in the order of 60p/ unit
but there is another question, apart from VAT which is obviously levied at 20% on industrial users why has the other costs risen exponentially ?
2 years ago the wholesale prices were fairly static in the order 5-6p a little more for green power and for industrial customers around 15p before VAT
so why have the other charges, distribution, operating and environmental charges risen astronomically ? from 10p to 40p / unit.
