Engine driven slurry pumps

What engines do you use and on what pumps. Are they powerful enough? For those of you who built your own is there anything you wish you had done differently!

I am thinking about making one myself. Looking for inspiration I suppose.

I remember a poster on BFF using cummins engines out of daf lorries,he didn't have great success with them,I would have thought they were an ideal engine.

I bought a 6cyl turbo merc for my pump,but unfortunately while trying to mess with the governor it over revved and killed itself.(n)

A perkins turbo is probably the best bet,out of a combine.

The days are numbered for a DIY engine job as most newer stuff is common rail.(n)
 
The problem with truck engines is they have a lot of droop on the governor to make them drive better in a vehicle ,problem is in a stationary application the revs will drop as the load gets greater
Depends what you want ,and want to spend I could supply you a nearly new Perkins or cat complete with radiator and control panel

There should be plenty of old Perkins 6 cylinder engines from combine Breakers simple stuff no common rail, and link it to Cri-man pth 80 k pump either direct drive of the flywheel or we can do one that's pto driven or engine drive, just swap the input shaft into a different position in the gearbox(y)

I'm expecting to look for a 160 ish hp engine, i seen this in the shaftsbury collective sale last week,

What i liked about it was that it used a standard l35 pto pump, having 4 pumps now this appealed as i could swap over pumps if anything went wrong with one, trouble is mine are HD pumps. probably needing more power.

what would people value the above at? deutz air cooled engine, standard L35 pump, compressor and trailer.

That Deutz would be about 90hp? (Depends if it turboed)

Looks like the donkey off a forager,tidy set up.

didnt look to see if turbo'd just assumed it was, was a tidy set, most prob started life on a forager, think the pump could of been mounted on rubber mounts or simmilar as it had cracked the frame a few times.

The trouble with making the pump fit both a tractor and engine is that your gearing the engine down then gearing the pump up,big losses in efficiency.(n)

Personally I would get a pedastal pump http://blueline.co.uk/ENGINE-DRIVE-SLURRY-PUMPS.asp you will get good output with a 150hp engine on it.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.
