Erucic acid

Had two loads of rape go today to Liverpool. Got dreaded phone call at 12 saying they had tested high for erucic acid 7%. So fair play to United oilseeds they asked for a lab test which takes 2 hours. After an anxious wait it passed the test. A big thanks to the haulier and United oilseeds for questioning cargills test.

Don't they not do a lab test then, just pick a number over 5%? ;)

We sent far from Liverpool and stored rape for a while when it got rejected but stopped when we found out just how much of a fiddle it all was. Always first thing Monday ask the driver why weighbridge man or man in the office is hungover or on a Friday afternoon when there is a line of trucks we would get a few loads in. All at the farmers expense I would never accept a rejected load without a independent test.

We have had trouble with erucic acid over 5% when tested in the heap and the odd load will go to a mill that will take it with a £10 deduction but still get bonuses.
