Contracting charge I need a profit it does not cost me that to put mine in we get jobs from 8 ac transport to and from jobs f**king about seed fert it needs to pay or no point doing itOh, it was just that £33/ac sounds 2.5 times as expensive as it should be...

Would you make any money at that. .?Contract charges for drilling turnips vary from £15acre-£20
With either DD or power Harrow combi into pulled up stubbles

I was going to spin out some stubble turnips on my wheat stubble and then go over shallow with a skh crumbler,, do you think they will establish ok with this method ?
About 10cm a part on a double row, the soil is red sandstone. What’s the tine spacing on a SKH? Keep seed rates up IMO
If you get rain at the right time, they will grow on a concrete yard.I was going to spin out some stubble turnips on my wheat stubble and then go over shallow with a skh crumbler,, do you think they will establish ok with this method ?
Machinery costs £27.70/ac based on full value, not marginal (overtime, tyres, fuel, repairs & spares) costs for a "catch crop"
.
View attachment 703700 Got the first lot growing at last . Had 11 mm today, which should help.
I’ve used the discs, broadcast and roll method this year.
14th of July after hybrid rye. Haven’t seen much rain since and have had to be sprayed for flea beetle . That’s a mix of kale, rape and turnips, hopefully for the cattle. They look great when were they broadcast? Apologies is you have already said.
A lot around here will wait until the volunteers have been sprayed until the N goes on anyway, what's with the new fangled talk? mine will be getting 2 bags to the acreI’ve put fert on earlier drilled crops that are up and away, but nothing on recently drilled stuff until I know if I will be redrilling it.
IF we get some rain this weekend I will feel a bit more confident, and may go on next week. I would be applying 2cwt/ac of Nitram (86 kg N/ha), as usual to turnips this early.

Mine have had a ton and a half of chicken muck. How do i translate that into a format for more educated members? Or a format for less educated me?
