We hear much about our need to be aligned with the EU regarding standards in livestock production systems and presumably in food safety.

Considering the disparity within the EU, surely they cannot all exercise production systems and food processing facilities which exceed ours.

So do we have evidence of what practices in the EU might not meet our normal standards.

I presume the French don’t still nail geese to the floor, or that Spain still practices bull fighting, or that bear bating has been outlawed in Bavaria, or that Romanian wives still don’t ride to market perched on the mudguard of the clapped-out old tractor.
