Just seen this as news on BBC News 24 and the presenter thought it highly amusing reading out all the replies on the police Facebook page , but we know what is going on don't we , ignorance is bliss, but I expect if she knew full well what was happening , she wouldn't be able to say so on the PC BBC

Apparently the driver of the car claimed the sheep was legitimately owned.
Unless the police could prove it was stolen there wasn’t a lot they could do, I think they were appealing for anyone who had lost sheep to cone forwards and identity it.

Cops Stopped someone over here earlier in the week with a pet lamb in passenger footwear. Said banned from keeping livestock after this, it was accurately even tagged.

I think he was previously banned for life from keeping animals, that's why they charged him with a welfare offence. Huge amount of pet lambs trading on facebook here at the minute and half the people looking them have no holding number or haven't a clue about tags etc.
