Ewe lamb tupping options

Which ram would be most suitable for lambing ewe lambs

Lambs would need to be born easy preferably outside and need to get to 40kg on creep feed due to restricted grass

Many thanks

A customer of mine sent me a photo of his Charollais lambs out his Romney hoggs, you can see some of his pure Roms in the background, for comparison. I'll just leave it here....

Horses for courses though. A Beltex will give lower birth weights generally, but VERY much slower growing. That can be a good thing of course, as it means the hoggs don't get puled down as much, and you may be planning on selling as hoggets anyway?

Use beltex here , easily born, up on their feet and sucking seriously fast . And youl end up with a cracking shaped lamb that whould provide a premium Whether you’re fattening the lambs on creep or growing them slowly and finishing them as hoggets.

They look cracking lambs. Have you rams suitable for ewe lambs for sale?

I do. There are about 50 shearlings still available, as we're only just starting to sell them for crossing. All Signet recorded and forage reared, as all rams should be. I'm at Montgomery, SY15 6UL.
Not far from me at all. I'd be interested in having a chat with you

Good skins in them out of Romney’s Neil. You Charley’s must be tight as me

Years ago used a Hamp , no probs . Recently .... Charollais , Lleyn , Blue Tex . Never found much diff in lambing ease , it's hitting the feeding and management right that matters . Overall the Blue Tex had a slight edge here , but on creep they'd be more likely 36s than 40s . Never got too hung-up on lamb finished size though when off hoggs .
