No. I think they are meant to stay sharper for longer aren't they? I'll buy some to try if you can think of a way of getting cheap shipping - usually airmail is heaps!
They seem a lot cheaper than JD ones. JD parts says they are £48 each and they are selling these for $36 I think. Unless I have my figures wrong they are half price without shipping

Has anyone tried getting prices for these? I've just had a measure up of my discs and they've lot a good 1/2 inch in two years and so I will need to change them again:mad:

If JDParts are quoting £48 a disc which is very silly. I could probably get it down to £40 but not much less as I don't buy much john deere kit. The ingersoll ones are the equivalent of £21 but I think anything involving airmail will scupper this.

Anyone interested in a group purchase or know if sea mail is possible for small amounts? I can never seem to get on with sea mail.

Take a look at www.industriehof.com if you have a supplier in UK. Part no 31-168IO-R972
Here in Sweden the price is around 30-35% cheaper than JDParts. And it is delivered direct to your farm.
But I don't know the quality of the disc compared to original.

Will do thanks. I felt I bought some poorer ones before which were not long lasting, but then the genuine ones seem to have worn more than I wanted this time so not sure what to do at the moment

Don't know the difference in quality. Only can say that they have good quality and would be worth a direct comparison. And with the right dealer the price can be even of better interest.
My friend used disc's from Shoup.

JD ones were £30 after discount on a stock order last year for reference

The discs on my old Kruase drill were made by ingersoll. If your discs are 345mm wide it might be worth giving Weavings a call, don't know how the bearings compare, but many machines share parts.

I emailed exapta asking for more info on the rockwell hardness of the discs. Never had a reply. I thought they did not want to deal with UK customers but then got their catalogue in the post!

Have you been given any proof they are better than the jd ones?

No. I generally trust the products from exapta (the thompson wheels are v good) and the DVD is very good. I wouldn't expect them to be just trying to make a buck because they need the reputation. That said we'll see what the price is. I think they may stay sharper but possibly not last longer.

I spoke to manufacturer of discs today who certainly knew his facts. He told me the specs of the Ingersoll discs and without giving away any trade secrets it would be fair to say that they are good but not as good as the spec for the discs supplied by JD.
