Excavator control valves.

I am trying to change my hammer circuit from single acting to double acting.

Can anyone explain to me how they work ?

It's certainly not like an agricultural 'slice'.

I am trying to find the other side from the current single acting circuit.

Yes, normally.

I can pipe it as a double acting flow, but I cannot understand, at the moment, the pilot service, and then the flow circuit from the valve blocks.

It's not usually altered at the slice, there's usually a tap you turn somewhere, sometimes under the cab floor.

What machine?

Depends on machine. Some are only single acting in which case return may be straight back to tank. Slice may still be ok for double acting but might have to add some pipework and if wanting to keep single circuit a tee and a valve etc.

Almost all hammer circuits will have free flow return from a hammer as back pressure kill hammers. There will be a diverter valve if its double acting. If only single acting it's a bit of work to get it double acting.

Nope, happy to lose single acting, and just pipe for permanent double acting.

Yes, bit of work but do-able.

That's the reason for my post, valve stack looks ominous.

Update.
Thank you all who have offered advice.

I got talking to a knowledgeable person at Warwick Ward .

Long story short, I have achieved double acting flow, using the single acting flow and return lines.

I have tried it on a muck grab, and it works !

This is instead of the single acting line, and I think will be more useful to me, and at a reasonable cost.
Time will tell , when used in anger , if I've covered all bases !

Hi jon have cx130 looking to do the same any ruff explanation on the set up u have
Well, firstly as devonboy states, make sure you do not have the change over valve.

For me it was a case of following the instructions from Warwick Ward.
I think it all revolved around the same slice that the one way operated on, but obviously adding a pressure relief valve and opening up the other side of the slice, and then the foot pedal in the cab, so that that acted as two way.

If you're interested, I can send you the name of the chap I spoke to, what I did he was also advising on another machine, so it's not unusual.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.
