Excavator vs Backhoe

Common theme seems to be people using 360 tracked excavators instead of Backhoe on farm ditch and hedgerow maintenance these days. Having spent lots of time on BHL’s and having hired an 8T excavator to do ditch work for a couple of weeks the last few years, I understand excavators in the wet winters can work where you can’t get to so easily with a BHL, less turning around in cab and better on a tree shear but, I never hear people complain about visibility of the bottom of the ditch from an excavator. I get so fed up peering out the side window with the boom slewed over struggling to see the bottom of the ditch, otherwise I’m just too far away from the ditch and the top of the bank obscures the bottom of the ditch. And then when there’s a hedge or trees on the opposite ditch bank they get in the way of the excavator geometry unless I again move away from the ditch. Maybe 8T is too big? Seems to be fairly normal size round here, yes I could make the banks shallower but then I might as well use the BHL as it’d be quicker taking scoop out the bottom of ditch than moving masses of soil from the banks that then gives me lots of spoil to deal with and ditch banks with no vegetation on them binding them together. 🤷‍♂️
