Used to be known as hippys few years ago just rebranded themselves to get a few more lunatics on board
They are not what I would term as hippys.

In the guise of saving the environment they are more of a pack of zombies, brainwashed by a cult without the strength to break free as they are left weak by being vegan.

Poor souls.

I’m sure they burn plenty of fossil fuels getting together, and cause society to burn a lot of fuel containing them.

Are they going to save the planet...no.

Are they going to make everyone think.....yes.

Just a load of terrorists really.

There was a coach load of them going from Norwich yesterday, they haven't got a clue.

As I have said before on here, XR are not the environmental movement and they wont be around for long.

Rather, they are the flare up of concern for the environment that happens - quite rightly - with each generation. Ark, Local Agenda 21, there have been others, they come and go. Those who are truly committed will in time find their way to the genuine environment movement - Friends of the Earth, Greenpeace. The rest will get it out of their system and drift into a more normal life of capitalist exploitation of the natural world.

I support XR. It is giving air to the debate that has to be had, and if just some of them develop out of their involvement a longer term, more balanced commitment to creating a better tomorrow then its a good thing.

If leaving yesterday that may have been AR. Different thing. See the other threads.

And before anyone says "they're all the same" then no they aren't, any more than all farming organisations are the same. Think of the protests this week in the same way as the Oxford Farming Conference; all of life is there, with as much that divides them as unites them.

They are only interested in photos for their Facebook pages.

You don’t see rioters causing damage at the OFC.

I strongly disagree.

They are just the same bunch of deranged idiots who chained themselves to fences at Greenham Common 40 years ago and married trees at Newbury 25 years ago. No jobs, no real life stresses and a jumped up sense of self-importance so they hijack the latest agenda and have protest and fight in the streets.

The biggest problem with this type of group is how they distract and turn public opinion away from the very issues they claim to be protesting.

I imagine that maybe 10-20% of XR genuinely believe in their cause and want to change the world. The rest are just wasters who enjoy causing anarchy and pissing everyone off.

sorry, I was using the comparison with the OFC to make the point that there are different factions within the protest movement just as there are within agriculture.

There whole intention is to cause disruption. They are driven by the hope of being arrested en mass to clog up the court system. Scrotal media is now a cancer in the world and losers like this dream of being given likes. They have no respect foe anyone else and know the UK is a soft target. Minimum fine £5000 each. Those without money jail time.

I have just looked briefly at the above.
I am sure they are really “Anarchists”,hell bent on creating unrest among society, using the Environment Issues as a front to hide behind.
Anyone else think the same?

The concept is well intentioned, but the anarchists will infiltrate it. There's no such thing as a united front. We can't do it and neither can they. Too many different agendae supposedly under the same banner.

This has a very different feel about it to movements in the past. I think it is naive to think they won’t have an influence on policy going forward. No democracy government willwant to A,look weak when the cause disruption to the majority or B, look heavy hand in removing climate protestors from blocking roads. Plus at the end of the day many like me have sympathy with them, hell if it wouldn’t make me somewhat of a hypocrite(lying on a sun bed in Madeira at the mo) I might even join them on an airport protest!)
