Tried exzolt yesterday for the first time. Got a good kill but still finding live mites this morning! Should I be concerned
Don’t think so. Takes a good feed to kill the mites. Are you repeat in a week or two?

only got a hobby flock but been using it for two years and very happy withnit.

We have used it a couple of times. It has a very good initial kill but doesn’t get the longevity required for the cost of it. I did the whole farm at the end of June and we are starting to see live mites now again so not even half a flock cycle. They do offer a reduced price on the second dose which speaks volumes, however you have to buy it all at the same time!

When using Exolt, you dose once and then again a week later. The idea is that, with 2 weeks of lethality, all the mite that are feeding and the eggs that are about to hatch, all get hit. It is very effective at killing them. If they feed on a treated bird, they will die.
However, I don't think it should be thought of as a regular treatment. For a start it is expensive and secondly I worry about resistance buildup. I think of it as a reset option that puts you back to the start of the flock, or brings an out of control situation back in hand, and allows it to be controled by other means.
