Surprising how quickly we run out of hurdles ( and pens)
Had bitter cold winds and sharp hail showers up here this morning. Seems no end to the crap weather
Very similiar here, blowing a hoolie and just come in for a Brew and half a Greggs Belgian Bun. Been a long morning, not particularly rewarding, so I have put butter on the bun, and will probably have the other half shortly! ;)

Trips at 5.45 and I popped them straight in the pen, then she decided she does not like the last one and will not have it... so into the warming box and cade pen.... 3 there now, and barely started as the bloody singles will not cooperate and synch!

Had a ewe "not right" and had been treated for TLD and had some calcijet over past 2 days. Cracked and called vet as something not right, very tight, and would not get on etc etc. He pulled out after much effort, 2 dead and drying out big lambs, then to cap it all 30mins late she croaks too. 🤬 Got a 2nd one that has had Glycol/Calc yesterday I asked him to look at but he reckoned she will be a while and would not tackle her...

But happily managed to turn a few out and free up the waiting shed, then an hour later a mahoooosive hailstorm. Happily the lambs have quickly found the shelter I put up... an old diesel tank with 2 sides cut out :) Looked very happy bunnies. I'll lob a wad of straw to them later.

Sent Herself to collect 4 more hurdles yesterday, for emergencies and I wanted a lightweigh pair to go with the little trailer i am using for chauffering sheep about with. Hurdles are in the shed already!

Vet eventually got here , with a second vet close behind 🤔 ( I think the first was newly qualified) between us all we couldn’t get lamb out , the ewe had prolapsed a week back , two dead lambs and now a euthanasia job on the ewe as she had a torn uterus Following that another with dead twins , she’s tonnes of milk so hopefully we get something to adopt on
Little speckled welshie had a belting lamb , no fuss no noise , I want them all to be like that

Really does it if a few have triplets, hold cleansing or mastitis not to mention hardly fit to turn out. Plus never known so many lamb in just three days. Job be over soon at this rate.

@Jonp mentioned cameras, our house is unfortunately ( or fortunately) 800mtr and a hill away from the shed
Yes 4g works. Here is the model etc of ours from Farmstream, now defunct, you can get them off Amazon I think. Much cheaper than Livestock Eye etc. I think they all buy this same camera and put their sticker on the front of it. It's being a real PITA just now though. Lens fogged up. Going to have to take it apart, clean the lens and put silica packets in it.
That said when it came we weren't able to use the sim card in it because of poor coverage and had to change it, so I did have it open and probably didn't get the seal right when I put it back together. All seem to use CamHi app.
So that's our f*** up🤣 blurry ewes.

No matter how many hurdles you have, you never have enough - it's one of the little known laws of physics.

To calculate the correct number, you need to use Einstein's E=mc2 in conjunction with a simultaneous equation involving the best unbiased linear prediction thing that they use to come up with EBV's.

Nothing wrong with welshies....at least they lamb themselves, mother their lambs to bits and don't feck off and leave their lambs when you turn them out....unlike some other breeds (that I've got). Must be the novelty of seeing grass for the first time in 2 months.
We’ve a fair few Cheviots , they beat the shite out of you when you catch them , fek off to the feeders and leave the lamb in the pen , then on the way to the mothering pen do a high speed lap of the shed madly blarting for the lamb that two minutes earlier she couldn’t be arsed with

Otherwise they are good ewes
