He comes once a fortnight mid March through too mid May. Then thankfully we only see him occasionally for the rest of the year!
2 weeks ago the I had a ewe die from a hung cleaning, walked out of the shed and the dead lorry turned up, he had got the wrong farm but I was thinking they must have some amazing alert system that let's them know when a ewe is 5 minuted from death haha

Officially started lambing yesterday. However over last 9 days 15 have lambed of which 9 have been 1 to 2 weeks early. We know this because we change the Rudd colour weekly. Their lambs are healthy looking but some are not viable and the ones that survive take a lot of time to get going although they are not dopey just premature. The ones born to normal time are good sized healthy lambs.

Spoke with vet and he says there could be some underlying toxo but it's to late to do anything. We'll blood test some of the ewes later.

I don't think there's anything to be done but just wondered if anybody else had this happen
Well I've had 8/9 yearlings cast last few days, 4 since yesterday. Been v quiet before then which is odd cause u usually get a warning 3/4 weeks pre due date but nothing up until now right at the v end of pregnancy. We're due in 3/4 days so I'm jus gonna have to ride it out although we've obviously got a touch of summut.....? It looks a bit like toxo to me, whether I'll look into it I dunno sometimes u jus gotta put up with fecking the joys of sheep & where do u draw the line with vaccinations...? We had campylobactor last yr - a new yr a new illness with sheep 🙈🙈🙈🙈

Like when farmers get chosen to be the face of a fert company or the McDonald's TV adverts..... I'd be the face of North East Fallen Stock haha...

... standing over a dead ewe having pulled out a rotten lamb in bits with blood and afterbirth stuck to my glasses haha
That’s could be it’s own thread, “what could you be the face of”. I would be draxxin, me stood there covered in blue spray with a needle in my hand. 😂

I had this a few years back and the blood test came back with the usual ifs, buts and maybes.

They reckoned there was a touch of Enzo and possibly Toxo so I vaccinated the whole flock for both and it certainly stopped the problem. Cost a bloody fortune though but if I hadn't done it I suppose I was running the risk of a storm and having a total disaster.

A friend in NZ says that if they suspect any problems they just dose the whole lot with Alamycin and it stops the issue but obviously frowned upon nowadays with the whole antibiotic debate.
As long as Vet confirms an OK, it is a cheap prophylactic treatment.

Did mine this time after an Enzo storm last year, and also vaccinated. Had 2 out 20 so far, lost one lamb, 2 live from one, and lost all 3 in the 2nd ewe, who would probably had a live first lamb, if she had presented and produced it quickly. The Alamycin can save some lambs in the ewes is my take on this, and when chatting with my Vet he confirmed that view.

Felt the same last year. I also think 2 jabs of alamycin pre-lambing, would have been worth doing....

When mine were slipping there were lots of lambs that probably could have been alive but they were coming out in the bag and so suffocating if I wasn't there at the right time. Not saying the lambs would have been good but they may have had a chance.

Annoying when you spend time pulling a rotten lamb then the bitch dies anyway! I pulled 4 dead quads out of a ewe the other day and she died within 6 hours - would have saved the knackery price of half a bag of lambs if I'd just left her alone.
