Awful day here today. driving wind and rain, was cold this morning but luckily warmed up a touch when the rain got heavy. It keeps teasing as things dry up slightly then back to square one. Going to be a depressing job if all of April is like this.
First assist tonight, 2 mahoosive lambs. Swollen head and legs back and ewe rather tight. Speaking as a novice shepherd, it's nice to have an easy one as a starter...
These Charollais sired lambs really are impressing me so far out of the EC ewes. Lots of get up and go and good lambs.

Sheep stopping in, and now I'm wondering if I need to clear the old grain shed as well, ready for ewes and lambs to be moved into if the forecast is right.
BUT.... what to do about the embarassment of the grass on the turnout field? Need a frost to slow it up a bit.... Weird old time.

And there was me thinking that burning some Colombian black meant something completely different!Yes anthracite, but it smells like coal tar , we let it go out and I am giving it a deep clean ( between bloody sheep problems)
