[Aspiring Peasants]

I have 3 breeds outside lambing. Mules nick everyone’s lambs, lleyns only want 1 and abandon the other and welsh crosses have very weak lambs and big teats. Bloody sheep all have there problems.

I’ve not had much of a problem with them pinching lambs, I did try some Lleyns once and had similar problems abandoning a lamb, never had Welsh crosses

I have a few herdwick mules, they are brilliant ewes, all 8 have lambed now and been great. One of those cheap lots of gimmer lambs that no one wanted so it was left to me in skipton to have them.

I discovered the rope prolapse harness a few years back after fighting with those stupid buckles on nettex harness’s

I really don't like those prolapse harnesses.

haven’t touched a mule lambing yet. (I know I’ve now jinxed it) Intending to get more of them to help the drift into semi-retirement

Last crèche of indoor lambers kicked out, 14 in lamb ewes … kicked out ( sick of waiting) Gathered the remaining hoggs for the day of reckoning
Hopefully they are empty and the big shed clean up can commence

I have to admit I never give that a second thought, but that ewe is really jinxed now

My uncle always picked a ewe lamb he wasn't particularly keen on for #13

Last rounds of the day , ewe acting a bit suspicious, on its own by a wall, fed up of problems so got her in the shed .. on way back home , an arty farty photo of fat Dave

One “was” a George mudge crook that I broke , I kept the leg crook on a 3’ length of the original shaft, it just lives on the quad
The others a cheap Ritchie one for “ Justin “

Been lurking here for a while reading what posts I can but not having time to keep up completely. Thankfully cut our numbers back this year and lambing later than we used to in readiness for an open day here next weekend.
Most of the last couple of weeks have gone pretty well but a lovely morning this morning was spoiled with this one

Successful outcome this morning, with a bit of help. She won’t get another chance though.

Here’s ours from last night , I left her in the shed and came in to set up for the scanner.
Ewe still messing about so I had a look , not a huge lamb but a very tight ewe

Spoon number 1 lambed ok, we suspected something so brought her in and removed the spoon. Still waiting on Spoon number 2 to do something . Oh the suspense.

You really should never keep a prolapsed ewe. The broad ligament that supports the gubbins has stretched and it won't return to normal, so the same thing will happen next year. 100% guaranteed. Been there. Some say don't keep ewe lambs from her either.

Yeah I just saw a forecast on the tele just now. Showers tomorrow apparently...blanket rain from about 530 onwards! Obviously seen me walking about in my boots instead of wellies!
