Ok just play devils advocate ,why should the above continue with large subsidies .I read somewhere that one turbine was getting £240k sub but only selling £40k of electric.Tin hat on for the fall out.

So six times as much subsidy as value of power generated? Sounds a bit on the low side compared to domestic solar - are they not on 50p + FIT and about 6p generation?
some of the early turbines were on very high rates, To get that sort of income would require a 100KW turbine producing 750,000 units a year. Not sure if that is possible?

Dunno what the local Windy Millers get paid but it must be a fair whack as one lot of 10 big ones on the moors away from me pay the local parish £40k annually just to benefit the community
and thats on top of all the rent the local estate collects for them being there for the 25yr period.

Wow! That's a fair old contribution to the coffers!

Offshore wind guys near all work on the goverment backed contract for difference scheme. They have to tender a competitive bid as to what they can produce at.
The last round of contracts were in at £39.65-£42 per MW(3.9-4.2p/kwh)I think. Given that wholesale production of electric on the scale they are at is selling in the £60s per MWH its just a unlikely to be used safety net to give investors a guaranteed income.
Every round of CFD has dropped in price, some of the early ones topped at £114/MWH, so they are on good money now from the goverment. I would need to check but the biggest subsidy is given to the last nuclear plant which was CFD at about £125/mw
I'm heavily involved in an offshore wind farm scheme and I'm assured they can make a return at 4p/kwh so anything over that is good money.
They have become very efficient, now a foundation and cable to it is for a 15MW absolutely massive turbine compared to a 3MW a few years back.
Makes the onshore guys look like kids toys.

Local wind farm to here I think its about £70k a year to be used by the local community.

There are NO subs for new build solar sites, which bit of that dont you understand??
Large scale now still work that's not what I was talking about,I DO understand, read what said,I never mentioned new build large sites, don't tell me a 100kw of solar paying 5p/kw would ever generate a reasonable return.
