General comment non thread specific.....
, "Well the weather wont be changed, even if one really wants it to.
Better to talk about something you can change I guess, come to think of it that would be way more
interesting (y)"
That's why I live at the arsehole of the country, it will always change here.
I can recall one continuous fortnight of rain, and one fortnight of continuous subzero in my lifetime

When I get some spare money :)unsure::)) I'm gonna dig a big pond or reservor ( as the yanks call it) if nothing other than to irrigate(solar panel to pump ) the garden stuff , the r. Beans failed this year ...? and I.love r. Beans , especially with r. Beef and spuds, ( the spuds arent too bad, but small.......
Infact...Makes me hungry just talkin abouT it tbh. ...

Touché ? but it’s a good few years since we got the decent stretch of sub zero.
1995 was the last decent freeze-up here IIRC.
I remember this as the next-door neighbours came home and blew up their "destructor" (like a mini coal range) by cranking it up with the wetback frozen solid, and I got a milking job out of it because they quit .
So I then had a full-time dairy job to work around high school, beginning an lifelong experiment in time management....

88 was the dry year, 1995 was the freeze/flood year, and 98 was the first big flood year since 1980

Otherwise it's fickle as she comes, which makes life both interesting and easy

Store your grey water from house? I have an underground tank, holds about 20k litres, and I just plumbed in the drain from the washing machine to it.
Amazing how fast it fills up in rugby season

Surprised your beans failed as even with a big dose of neglect mine did quite well.
I expect there’s a good feed left on them even now.
The missus is bloody hopeless at telling which are tough though.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
