Might need a few coldies tonight

I have a feeling a whole world of northern hemisphere ( or at least, British ) hate is going to descend on me later once they all wake up :)
You're all alone, comrade Roy...

My phone will be flat :blackalien::woot::headphone::headphone:

Will be interesting, see if I can beat my record of 61 alerts overnight :stop:

Imagine if I actually meant to upset folk, instead of simply calling an egg, a 'fruit of the hen'.. :pompous: :blackeye::blackeye:

as I said, I'm only here to observe the farmer psychological state, so I can see what will give me the best future return
I certainly can't help what folk think of what I have to say about it, and f**k them if they can't handle it. (y)

I’ve obviously missed this particular thread of distress. Where can I join the fun?
Ahhh... there's more than one that I've been in.
The soil compaction one I found astounding, also theres the usual array of "oh, but, my subsidy!!" ones in different guises
oh... and one about why agricultural machinery isn't keeping up with aircraft technology. I browsed the glyphosate ban one, but didn't put my 2 cents in...:censored:
That's about all l had time for.
They are quite confusing because silly old me tends to say the same thing in each one :)

'No mines' sticker and a triple J sticker all in one shot.
Are you a closet hipster millennial Roy?

Haha - nothing closet about it

Coal mining / coal seam gas extraction are massive issues here, threatening the viability of many thousands of millions of productive agricultural land, major water aquifers, environmental diversity & aboriginal heritage

Many farmers here are anti mining, have protested, formed blockades, been arrested . . .
Our state govt introduced severe anti protesting laws with penalties of up to 7 yrs gaol for protesting against the resources industries. Note - these laws are only for people protesting against the resources industries - coal, gas, oil. All the evil planet raping k unts.

Underneath this middle aged white male farmer exterior is a proud lefty pinko tree hugging environmentalist greens. My whole life & income revolves around the natural environment & being in tune with it. So, why wouldn't I . . .

I did wonder if anyone would recognise that Triple J sticker, that photo was carefully staged :)

I've a friend backpacking round Aussie at the minute. She spent some time on a cattle station in NT. I was shocked to discover the threat fracking poses to pastoral water supplies, as well as the lack of compensation offered.

Yeah, it's real
Govts of any persuasion ( left or right ) just don't care, they are all in the pockets of the resources companies.

The ONLY political group who have actually sided with farmers are the Greens - some quite strong alliances have been made between farmers, environmentalists & indigenous groups. I realise this may come as a shock to UK farmers, but that is how it is. Farmers, & Greens, both realise how important the environment is to our continued future. In fact, it is the ONLY thing that is important, if it's f u cked then we're all f**ked

From some of my earlier posts I know some people here have had experience on irrigation farms in this part of the world.
You'd be familiar with the system of flood irrigation, using furrows to run water down the field between the rows & the channels & drains involved.
Relatively cheap & effective, but unfortunately a fair degree of evaporation, inefficiencies in delivering accurate amounts of water, higher labour & water costs. This, combined with needs & desires to lower water use & maximise efficiencies has seen a big uptake of lateral move irrigators in recent years.
Here's a couple of new ones I drove past today on my way to work
