What do you mean a £40k grant? I don’t have farmflix.
I think he is very good. A natural on camera
He said his rent that year was going up to 80k as they had just taken on another 300-acre unit. He then went on to say he gets 40K back in subsidies, so net 40K. At time of filming, he perhaps hadn't expanded sheep numbers onto that new unit.
He also mentions that a farmer who already owned that size of unit would have no rent and still claim the 40K subsidy.

At no point in that part of the discussion does he use the word "Grant"

I've never watched his YouTube; I thought it an excellent FarmFlix episode.

Just wanted to correct things. Listening/comprehension doesn't seem great on here sometimes.

I watched a bit of Cammy (the sheep game) on farmflix this morning, about 800+lambing ewes,he said he didn't actually know how many acres he has sheep on, but that his annual rent was 80k!!!,I didn't watch much more after that,as I couldn't see the point🤷

If he’s spending £100 a ewe for some of the grass he rents he’s a bigger fool than he looks.

Surely he can’t be paying that much? Unless he is getting the sfp on it?
Think he’s up over 1000 ewes now. They took on another bit of ground and bought 300 ewes for it.

80k a year in rent, but receives 40k a year SFP subsidy.

I haven't watched any of his videos on YouTube, he and his partner came across as friendly, hardworking and likable people in the Farmflix video.

I did like the sheep game but is unwatchable now as it’s all one big advert. Probably like Tom pemberton though and aimed at kids as they buy the hats and hoodies.
I haven't seen his YouTube, he says on FarmFlix Tom was a big influence.
He was a police officer and part time farmer apparently, when YouTube and merchandise sales took off, it replaced his police income and allowed him to quit and become a fulltime farmer.
YouTube/Merch is now his fulltime job.

You can tell he's on camera a lot, some great lines.
"If you always do what you've always done, you always get what you always got".

He also says he believes there's money in farming and when people say asset rich, cash poor, it still makes them rich.
Hard working family, good luck to them.

You reckon? Do your farm men sleep in the cab on the roadside with no showers/toilets and work 60hrs a week year round?
Although you're only working 60 hours a week, if you're out all week you're technically do way more than that because your time is not your own.
You just get paid for card on duty time.
Jemma mentioned it on her video, she was sat 15 hours waiting for people to answer the phone and make a decision, all off duty, sat on the side of the road.
I'd like to see Clive do it for a year, working for some of these companies.;)

Not sure about the 60K either. Might go back to Blighty 🤷‍♂️

Is farmflix better than there YouTube behind the scenes stuff can’t stand the niggling at each other “see whenever I done that” or “sirrrrr” big donkey has a better way with talking to people
Their videos aren’t like the YouTube stuff at all. The subscription videos are professionally done and it’s rare the interviewers are carrying on like that. Enjoyable, informative and interesting content. I’ve been subscribed for 4 years now so sub is only €60 but I think it’s over €100 for new subs.

Think Leoch meant the actual video is one big advert from the Youtuber now, not the skippable YouTube ads that are becoming more and more frequent.
That the world we live in now, full of adverts,
I never buy newspapers nowadays , just online news etc
sites,
Walked past the newspaper stand in local shop a few days before Christmas and the front cover of The Sun was a complete full page advert for Aldi!!
Times have changed,

Honest explanation of what's achievable financially to a content creator. Not a farmer but fits the thread title otherwise.

In 2 years his total views have trebled, and now there are also at least double the adverts in a video, but his income is only up by about 10%

Looks like youtube are taking the p1ss. But that's always what happens when companies get too big and powerful :(

Miles better. By design there meant to be poor quality. They are nice though. Fun to see some the banter from filming after you have watched the episode on the main site.
