Customers will pay whats asked to a point , if fruit and veg prices doubled in every supermarket it would still sell .Labour is one of the most significant costs in fruit and veg production... If UK producers are to put produce on UK shelves at a price that consumers are willing to pay and low enough to compete with imported parallels or alternatives then paying low wages and offering shitty caravans is hard to avoid.
