In this week's Farmers Guardian, within a Brexit story, it is mentioned that in a no deal situation the sow trade will die out as 90% is exported because there is no market for it here in the UK.

That can't be right ?

So what are the implications of bringing this back to the UK ? All the shite about bringing back control of borders and laws.. we need to bring back control of our agriculture.

Bringing the cull sow trade back to the UK? As in ask UK processors to handle something they don't have the equipment for, so that they can produce products that UK consumers don't generally eat? I'd say the implication is that the price will fall flat on its arse. And stay there. Sometimes being "in control" isn't as important as being in the black.

Anyway, since your post, it's all been delayed a few more months. Should give me time to perfect my Frankfurter recipe and get the marketing campaign up and running.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
