I also can’t understand folks having a go at Adam Henson.
He helps massively in educating the public, and so what if he makes a bob or two off farm. He’s just diversifying .
There’s some bitter people about .
I suppose it's like us who are very fortunate in life in that we have a house and food in our bellies complaining about people who sleep on the streets because they are moaning about their lifes problems , not that I would ever do that
I cant even comment on the EU now as I have apparently done very well out of then . So I say now if I'm a hypocrite then so is he
If you preach from your pulpit be prepared to take some flack

Exactly, he always comes across well and what does it matter if he has diversified, its not like a chunk of people on here don't have renewables, caravan sites/storage, sold a bit of land for building etc etc etc

Talking to none farming folk, they like & comprehend the way he puts the farming message across. Something not everyone can do.
The bitter people should read his book. Foot & Mouth time his business was on it`s arse. the bank were saying "no more"
We can not see the balance sheet now but he appears to have turned things round

I hardly dare comment, but suffice to say, when I finally give up and retire, despite my son having grown up in it, my business will be no more. The attitude of some farmers is the main reason why not. My son now works less hours than I, although he will sometimes have done a day's work before I have got out of bed, is appreciated by both his boss and their customers, so why should he run a business where every penny he makes is resented by those who pay? As for me, now drawing my pension, although it is not enough for a decent living, I can at least chose which customers I work for. I suggest that instead of valuing the hours farmers work, they should truly value what they produce, and if the price offered does not reflect that value, get out.

There wont be any farmers left then

Oh look, here we go again, with the "genuine farmer" nonsense (Ollie, I'm not having a go at you, it's just this common accusation on the forum).

It's bo**ocks. In no other industry would anyone be criticised for expanding/diversifying/trying something different, all of which probably safeguards their future or their kids' future as "farmers" if that's what they choose.

really try the haulage industry
