Profi good machine magazine, apart from fact they promote fendt,,,,
This will always happen as its german based.if anything gets slagged of the manufacturers will no doubt be reluctant to loan machinery.in earthmovers magasine everything is highly praised probably due to the fact that advertising woukd stop if a negative report was given.jcb are allways given brilliant reveiws probably on the back of factory visits and demonstration machines available as and when.if all these reports were done by real operators there would be no machinery forthcoming especially from jcb as most operators slag them of continually

Profi is pretty good , and out of all the magazines they are the best at leveling any criticism , there review of any machine always have both good and bad point and what can be improved usually along with the manufacturer's response to there criticism.
The tests they do with DLG state which is proven best in the figures derived from the testing not just what's assumed to be the case. They are as you state often FENDT but DLG are i would think above influence so if Fendt score highly it must i assume be be justified.

FMJ is also very good and also and on occasion level criticism where justified, not having access to testing of the type DLG do the reviews have to be more subjective , but the journalism is i think pretty good also.

I only read FW because I pay for it. The free stuff I get like Arable Farmer & Crop Production is entirely written for those who have sponsored the articles. FW occasionally has some good material but it is worth looking at who has contributed to each article and what agenda they have.

Don’t think we will ever go beyond 100 pages or postage gets expensive

Unless we start printing on nasty lightweight bog paper like some seem to !

Considering it's a mainly English publication, and since even most Scottish sheep are clipped by mid July.
I would say they are very out of touch, but thays not really anything new.

As farming rags go, I would rate them in the following order.

Farmers Journal
Farmers Guardian
Farmers Weekly
Scottish Farmer

With the bottom two being equally poor.

They did a equally topical feature on combine reversing cameras in November last year.

I also recall them printing an article on why dary farmers should be making an extra ton of silage per cow in the early spring, perhaps a good time for forward planning but towards the end of a long winter when silage stocks were extremely scarce it was 12 months too late.

I can’t remember the previous year but it wouldn’t surprise me if they were running articles then on not making too much silage and getting cows out to grass.

Everything’s easy with the benefit of hindsight, articles on what you should have done had you known how things are going to pan out are of little use for today’s problems, didn’t see any articles on preparing for drought in the spring, but you probably will next year.
