Farmers Weekly

Haven’t bought it for a while but been given this weeks copy.

Page 7 .... drought. EA being flexible with water use.

Page 8 .... combine world record for charity.

Page 10 ..... Irish farmers fodder issues and more water issues.

Page 11 ..... appeal for straw for livestock farmers.

Page 12 .... yfc annual party cancelled.

Page 14 .... rural thefts

Page 16 .... drought means dairy herd sales

All the above and loads more from the rag has been in social media for at least 10 days.

What a complete pile of plagiarism from facebook and the various farming forums.

Why is this magazine still in existence? Is utter shite. You can’t advertise for less that 500 quid in the mag and the dozers taking the advert info dont know the difference between a tractor and a lorry.

I think it’s still popular/bought because of the generation of folk that can’t use a computer or won’t trust anything on the internet unless it’s in hard copy. I can say about something online to Dad, I’m not always believed, if I printed it off and gave it for him to read he’ll believe it :banghead:

Quite often i’ll Say about some big topics/issues that are happening at the time and about 10-14 days later he reads it in the FW/FG and thinks it’s new news and has forgotten that i’d Told him weeks previous.(n)

Ha! This works both ways.....My old man can just about use a computer, so I get very worried when he tells me about stuff he's read on the internet! Maybe I'll ask him to print it off next time!!

To be fair, most of those are news items and if you only come out once a week it's alway going to be old news these days compared to here & other social media outlets.

Even by reading the daily farming pages of the regional newspapers up here such as the Press & Journal or Dundee Courier gives you everything farm news wise that will then be in the Farmer Weekly or Scottish Farmer a week later.

Can't see both the FW & FG both surviving that much longer. Less Farners every year with those that do carry on increasingly getting their information from elsewhere.

The beano is still being produced in hard copy, I thought it had gone 20+ years ago but there was a bit on the news a few weeks ago saying how they were still printing 40,000 copies a month

Print media is a long way from dead

It needs to be high quality though these days
Un fortunately the FW is heading the other way these days been printed on cheap paper a real cut and paste job re hashed articles that have nothing new to add .
The rot set in after the cashiered john lambkin and surrendered the tenancy on there easton lodge arable and pig farm ,a real farm withs its warts and all reporting was compulsive reading nowadays its full of farm managers on large estates prattling on .
You have to buy the classic tractor to find real farmers on modest acreages like Robin Truss and Darren Tebbit are still alive and well in the uk..
3 reasons to still buy the yellow peril?1 David richardson a lone prophet howling into the wind but usually correct in his views 2 Charlie Flindt glouriously unpc and the scourge of the national trust and the green luvvie agenda 3 Stephen Carr need i say any more? Oh yes Guy Smith we love you Guy really....

All topical news items. You (or most other people anyway) would soon be commenting if none of those featured!

There's just no pleasing some!:facepalm::facepalm:
