Farming is Changing

Maybe the rest of you need to change
I think your the ones that are changing and going back to the way we’ve always farmed. Mixed, with livestock, plenty of muck, grass and cover crops( although we always called them catch crops and grazed sheep on them )
wouldn’t mind betting my soil is in far better heart than most big arable outfits that grow the odd cover crop.

Well, I won't be changing. If it means continuing to manage without dole money, so be it. The only thing that would excite me is a sensible 21st century price for produce. I expect I'll remain unexcited then. Or decidedly meh as young people would say.

Have any of you actually read it ?
It's not just ELMS. There is stuff about help with productivity and efficiency and not allowing our standards to be undermined. So we should be able to make more from what we do farm and earn from what we don't.
It's just a case of whether the government can be trusted long term.

There will come a time although maybe too late for me, when somebody with influence cottons on that we need to produce food after all, and although I'll be looking to take advantage of the money available, I started farming on a productive farm and I intend to leave it as a productive farm.

we won’t need government long term based on a few conversations I’ve had recently.

most farmers seem totally unaware of just how in the pound seats we are about to become ............ long overdue !
