Croptec next year for an insurance company imo

LAMMA and cereals etc are more about machinery

if no shows are halpening by croptec (nov 21) the events industry will be gone completely

and how does the events industry survive ?

they will only go bust the once ! then there will be no shows even when covid is no longer a problem
Not sure I completely agree with that.
Buisnesses certainly could and do go bust but others start up.
If shoes go bust they probably won’t all restart and those that do probably won’t be like before but there will be shows of some sort post covid

would you invest in a events company ?

they were not exactly making fortunes before covid !

if things don’t change for the better next year i fear we wont see some of these shows again and that would be a loss to the industry

I know absolutely nothing about the events industry and my pockets ain’t remotely deep enough to invest in an events company .
However I’m 100% confident there will be shows post covid, maybe not the same ones, or as many but there will be shows.

As our industry evolves some small family farms will be lost forever.

Business is business.

It's the major shows which will struggle to survive.

The small local shows, which are far more important in that they maintain connection between the farming community and the Villagers or local Townies, will hopefully continue as before. Their only real cash expense is putting up a marquee or two, and a hope that the judges and the local brass band won't demand expenses. And the local printer will just have to await payment until the Schedules have been sold.

Who would bring back the Royal Show?

I'd say you're correct.
The likes of the Highland and the Border Union haven't got a lot to p!$$ in just now.
The BU was broke even before Covid.

Small one day shows cost next nothing, so if they don't happen for a couple of years it doesn't really matter.

As others have said more likely that the small local shows will survive than the large national ones. This is rather concerning when the Cereals Event has not refunded any money to Exhibitors for the cancelled 2020 event, instead they are holding onto it for us for the 2021 event!
The local shows refunded us very quickly. This is what happens when Events are run by multi-national organisations only interested in their own bottom line, not the agricultural industry.

Thanks Everyone, that has given me an idea of what to look out for when events start up again. Has anyone been to the Nantwich Farming Show? Would you recommend it as it's not too far away from where I live?

I am very worried about the events industry, I have done loads of the shows over the years with the fire pits and have made lots of friends. so many people I know only sell product at shows and rely 90% of them for their business, we are fortunate that we get a lot of direct sales but Chelsea flower show is still a massive event for us, I have paid forward for next year, if its cancelled again I could see a lot of big events going bust

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
