Its shite, they reakon the weather has a major imact on mental health, by god they are right.
The farming job is hard enough but those odd sunny days when your looking across a nice crop of barley blowing in the breeze or a field full of content cows cuddin make the utter slog, the burocracy, the f**kwits in westminster. The backstabbers in the nfu not matter are in very very short supply
Give me a drought every year , you soon adapt

Agreed. Totally and utterly fed up this winter. We’ve had 1 week of a frost, and it’s basically rained since about September. Total I was ready to walk away, soaked through and bored and that’s just doing the routine boring jobs.

Zero enthusiasm for the job at the moment.
You are not alone Pete. Can’t even bothered in the sheds. Everything is dripping with condensation. Though I finally mended my diesel space heater and warmed a wheel up for painting after I’d welded up the cracks in it. About the one thing I’ve accomplished this week.

Quiet happy here , have had lot worse winters , snow n ice for 5 months is worse than rain. For me we have had hard frost this winter just right time to empty slurry store , grass is almost growing which is unbelievable here At 250m above sea , ewes have never looked better , spring
Could just be around the corner ! You have to count your blessing ! Come on could be so much worse you could some poor sod in ukraine had your place robbed bombed off the face of the earth or diganosed with cancer or out , a bit of rain wont deter me.

Nowt like a good rant. Seems daft but i find one of the best things for my mental health is sitting with a group of about 6 close mates that i think the world of and absolutely hammering each other. Without remorse, ripping the pee. Maybe a bloke thing but i love it

Me and a few fellow 'lone workers' have handsfree phone kits and spend most of most days just talking blollocks to each other. It's at the stage the wives wonder if we are talking to girlfriends all day.

time off not an option with ewes ready /starting to lamb, hoggs everwhere needing feeding one man band. constant wet weather doesnt help either. nor does wasting half a day pandering to the wants of the processors .someone else always wants someting dont they, a piece of yrs, a slice of that potential profit that you require to pay the bills. and with a modest lifestyle

always reluctant to burn them if they are any good . only have 1 or 2around now and recently made a rather useful set of car ramps with a pair of then , exterior ply, some old baler belts ,4 x2 and tech screws  better than you will buy at halfords any day..
problem with bought steel car ramps is that they tend to slip away as you drive up on them ,
whereas the timber and fixing the ply underneath the sleepers extending beyond them like a tounge means that the weight of the car on the ply first pins the ramp to the grounds so it dont move and up you go . longer and wider as well....
