Farming Weekend Weather Forecast 18/5/18

The weekend is looking okay, some sunshine for many and warmer too. More cloud in the west though. Details below.

High pressure dominates over much of the UK on Saturday. Morning mist and fog patches clearing quickly on Saturday morning to leave dry conditions and plenty of sunshine with only small amounts of cloud.
Sea breezes developing on coasts.
Thicker cloud in western Ireland and perhaps the Hebrides, these perhaps giving an odd spot of drizzle.
Winds NE F3-F4 in the south at first, becoming variable F4 in sea breezes, mainly S-SW F4-F5 in the west.

SUNDAY
---------------
Not much change in the overall pressure situation for Sunday. Higher pressure continues to affect much of England and Wales. Morning mist patches in sheltered areas soon clearing to leave plenty of sunshine with sea breezes on coasts.
The fronts in Ireland and Scotland bringing more cloud here. These will only be weak features and so rain is likely to be light. Rather misty over hills in the west too.
Generally more cloud in the west of Wales and the far northwest of Ireland.
Winds E-NE F3-F4 in the south and east, perhaps F5 locally on eastern coasts later. Mainly S-SW F5 in the west of Scotland and Ireland. Sea breezes mainly to the southwest of England and southern Wales.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
