The remnants of a cold front across southern England on Saturday as a deep area of low pressure passes to the north.
The front to the south brings cloud and some patchy outbreaks of rain to much of southern and western England, this mainly on the coasts and hills. Watch out for some low cloud and patchy rain in the English Channel too.
Getting brighter and drier as you head north with much of northern England, southern Scotland and Ireland being dry and bright, except for the odd shower in the west.
The low to the north of Scotland brings widespread gales with rain affecting northern and western Scotland, this often from showers that have merged together. Some of these could be heavy and thundery.
Winds W 18-20kt (F5) for most but 20-25kt (F6) on western coasts and hills and 30-35kt (F7-F8) in central and northern Scotland, perhaps to 40kt (F9) in the north.
SUNDAY

The area of low pressure clears east on Sunday as a weak ridge of high pressure builds. A warm front approaches western Ireland later in the day.
Breezy again through Scotland with some showers here, most to the north and west. The showers could be heavy with a risk of thunder. The showers easing in Scotland as the day progresses.
Elsewhere it will be dry with broken cloud and some sunny spells, although an odd shower is possible over northwest England and Ireland in the morning.
Thicker cloud reaches western Ireland later bringing rain.
Winds WNW 25-30kt (F6-F7) in Scotland, these easing through the day, W 12-15kt (F4-F5) in southern England and Wales, backing SW 20-25kt (F6) in western Ireland later.
