What's the general opinion of buying an early model with 5 - 10000 hrs? Just the same risks as any sh tractor or more likely to cost a fortune to keep running and be more unrelible than most? Tia
They're not a bad machine, you'd mitigate a lot of risk by buying from somewhere like JH Milne's who will sort known weak points and do small mods to increase reliability and durability.
I don t know how to post previous threads but use the search feature and these tractors have been discussed previously over the last 6/7 years .
However upto around 2018 , they had weak/ poor diffs and final drives . Mods were done but would need to check history .
We bought 1 about 2 years ago with approx 6000 hrs and a 2nd 1 this year with 9000 hrs. Both are doing okay , they will probably only do 5-600 hrs a year each as we are not contracting anymore. First 1 has had a few electrical problems, pto cutting out which was traced to switch on rear wing. New pto sensor in the spring, new air con pipe fitted at harvest. Newer 1 has be fine so far, it had a new gearbox last year which is why we bought it. We love them and find them comfortable and easy to use.
