fastrac as a all round tractor?

We're currently running 'conventional' 50k tractors, however one of them is on carting work for 5 months of the year and one is up for renewal this coming spring. Ive toyed with the idea of a fastrac before, but that tractor has to round bale and do landwork as well. The only reason iam thinking about one is the current road rules and regs frighten me to death so a fastrac would fit all current criteria. All the trailers we use are high speed spec. Would this be a sensible choice?

Yes. Get one bought soonest. Then bask in the self satisfaction of knowing that not only do you have a better tractor than everyone else, but also that you bought British(y)

Slightly off topic but what do these new proposed rules & regs for an increased weight limit everyone talks say about what type of tractor should pull them? For example would any normal 50k tractor be able to or will they need all round brakes & abs etc

Top speed for any current production tractor is 40km/h. That has only just been introduced so don't expect anything faster anytime soon. The only exceptions being the Fastrac and Unimog.

I went to a nfu meeting a month back and there's going to be a weight increase to I think it was 35 ton for a turn out with 2 axles and 39 ton for 3 axle trailers. However anything over the current weight limit (29?) Will have to be tested, both tractor and trailer.

Used a 3220 plus on a harvest job, was great on the road but either 7250 magnum or 6910 was 100x better for field work. Crap lock and heavy steering on the fastrac

Round baling will be good if not better than a conventional tractor but heavy cultivations perhaps not quite as good as a conventional tractor, depends on what your expecting to pull with it!run rings round a normal tractor on anything but heavy heavy tillage.

I use my Fastrac for ploughing, power harrowing, spraying, seeding, slurry, dung, fert basically everything but the mixer wagon, steering lock not the best on 3000 series but you get used to it. Far easier on the back spending a day in Fastrac than a conventional tractor. + all the benefits of road haulage.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
