Fat cattle haulage rates

What are people paying for haulage? For us it can work out quite dear to get them anywhere that is paying quite well. £20-28 / head seems dear but is that the going rate for 10 beasts these days?

About 130 miles although I wouldn't go the way Google Maps suggested

I would have thought that very reasonable for a small number over that distance.
It is a round trip of 260 miles and plus getting to you, plus putting straw or shavings on the floor to keep the cattle clean.
There is the time required to wash out.
Fuel used would cost close to £140.00 depending on the age and size of the vehicle.

The driver even if own vehicle should be on £120.00 a day!

Many small livestock hauliers do not charge enough to cover their running costs let alone make a profit.
