Feeding barley

I would really consider looking at Maxammon/FiveF treatment. As well as increasing the protein level (reducing the need to buy that in separately), it raises the pH of the treated Barley significantly, avoiding the danger associated with feeding high levels of Barley, and particularly of increasing rates too fast.

Not cattle, but I had to bring lambs in to feed last year, like most. I started them on whole Barley mixed with pellets, through one of those magical 3-in-1 feeders to limit intakes, but still lost a few. Next ones came in onto straight Alkagrain (FiveF treated Barley) on ad-lib and didn’t have any problems at all. I wish I sorted it earlier, but didn’t have any handy to treat the pile of grain.
