Feeding beet

What are people's thoughts on the best way of feeding beet in troughs like this?
Whole or chopped with a bucket or feeder wagon? Thanks

Get rid of those troughs . Nothing but a nightmare. You will have to clean out the shed twice monthly though . But you will find this better for the feet of the cattle and more heathy as deep bed is a breeding ground for bugs
And i was also told that for feeding and roots to stock it should be from ground level
If you chop the beat the cattle will still root like pigs

If you have the equipment chop it. But if you don’t I wouldn’t go to the expense as the cattle will learn after a week or 2 to scoop the beet themselves.

You’d better make sure to have the beet washed though as the troughs will fill with muck and stones quick enough if not

Chopper bucket into the troughs. Might have too clean out troughs occasionally.

For all of you telling the lad too get rid of his troughs they only cause trouble. Have you actually looked at the picture? The bottom of the barrier is open, taking the troughs off would lead to contamination and an increase in wasted feed. Be a major job to remake the barriers with bottoms that won't rot in muck.
Also, cleaning out the sheds twice monthly is advice only for those with a free supply of straw!! Every time you start the shed fresh it's a bale per bay to start them off clean! Bloody stupid advice with straw at £75/tonne +!!!

got exactly the same , BOM bucket with 3 knife end it , did have plain bearing support one in it splits the beet a bit but not much and they soon hoover it up .
Feeding off floor you,d need scrape out passage behind the feed barrier and a means to get rid of it, more work!

I muck the Front/ where they eat out all the time and just bed the back of the sheds
