Feeding weaned calves ad-lib concentrate or a set amount

Just going to be on weaning some calves and just wondered what different people do. The youngest will be around 8-9 weeks old. Are people giving their calves a set about of pellets per day per head or just ad-lib? Intend to put them onto ad-lib silage and a nut once a day in the future but was just curious as to what people do from weaning until 4 months

The younger they are the faster they convert feed to growth so if you need them finished by a certain time or weight work back to see which growth target you require

4kg a day here split between two feeds. They get adlib straw alongside the cake for a few weeks post weaning and then begin the transition to adlib silage and the same amount of cake split between two feeds. Once they are older they get brought back to 1-2kg of meal fed in the morning depending on their growth rates.

adlib cake and straw whilst on milk, then adlib cake after weaining. Then start to introduce silage. limit the ad lib when they are eating about 3kg a head. Then try to gradualy reduce the cake they recieve some till 6 months age. would like some good research on this, plently about feeding milk powder, not much for the next step.
