We’ve had wagon ploughs since 2006 ish
Kuhn 6 furrow manager on a McCormick 140 so a 4 plus 2 with dowdeswell heavy ring press as well thought we be using the 5 mounted to do endrigs but in reality no
Then Claas 816 on same plough
Now we use a kv and Overum wagon ploughs
Kv 8 furrs and Overum 7 furr both with knockerling trailed presses on Claas 650 tractors with a weight of around 500 kg on the front, too much weight on front is detrimental to traction our operators found also I’m told by operators that if you hit a wet spot or hill etc where you would normally be lifting plough a bit you do the same with wagon but actually lift the centre and that transfers weight to tractor
Other plus points are as said much safer to turn plough over on hills so much easier on tractor as well as plough is balanced on its own axle!
On the road it is just like pulling a trailer much much safer than a mounted especially

Thanks, that explains it , although a shame as I use to enjoy the huge fields and views plus the kit !!!
Would be interesting how things have changed since ie at the time they ran 5 or 6 x Claas 580 combines which were maybe 6 year old plus so assume by now they have swapped them out ?? They also had two if not three RB55 Bateman sprayers but again must have updated since and I think one of the last videos was of an Agrifac on demo .

They ran 4 x 580’s, then had a few seasons with 1 CR10.90 plus 2 x CR9.80’s then swapped those 3 for 2 x 8900 Lexions.
Not sure about any of the old 580’s still there.

Hijacking thread slightly sorry !
can anyone give me any dos n don’t with a fendt 516 im set to get one next week ive never been in one before & know nothing about them it will be mainly used on a veg planter & veg hoe !
many thanks Stev .

Right, @KB6930 warned me about this!🤦🤣

Having trouble keeping the front wheels on the ground when I lift plough. Got a stone fork on front with 3 sets weights hanging off it and on steep bits at ends the front wheels are still wanting to lift. It's fine in flat fields.

Fendt mechanic today suggested rear wheel weights would help keep it better balanced. Personally I don't really understand how this would make much difference, but interested to hear if anyone else done this and found it helps front?

Water in front wheels. Anyone done this? Does it affect how it drives at speed on road? Is it easy to take out.

Running out of space for front weights and still got a packomat, mounted press I want to put on plough.🤦

I think Fendts idea of a compact powerful tractor you can add and remove weight to is a great concept. Just need to put it into practice.

First thing I do before going ploughing is take the loader off. Makes me cringe thinking about all those pins and bushes getting unnecessary wear from the high frequency vibration when running up and down the fur

Why is there not a warning sign in cab if it's so important?

I've stuck neon pink post it notes on ours to remind myself and others.
Fendt have need to keep their workshop busy somehow. They'd be redundant without a few abused varios to swap out each year 🤷

(How many pages are in the manual these days? Or have they went digital and you're meant read it off the phone for something to do when the autosteer is engaged? 🙄)

I’m not a complete novice I have been in farming most of my life in one way or another! just looking for info on fendt as it’s a brand I’ve seen but never been in or used !!
There pretty straightforward and logical to operate. Many seem to make out there complicated but there not.

If your really sad like me look on YouTube Fendtone channel and it explains everything. I learnt most things off it, if your ever stuck just Google it and it explains it, or ask on here. Plenty helpful people on here.
