View attachment 772252 View attachment 772254 View attachment 772256 Well I went for a look at this slurry kit today and it was a wasted day ,it was all very rough for its age, the guy started up the smiddy made pump set to have to stop it right away as it had no engine oil pressure, the whole thing looked like a ticking time bomb all the components were of different ages , crane from 1998, engine 2015, compressor 2016 and it was a lottery to when the trailer was made, as for the hose it was ready for the guys bonfire
I wish some one had told me that !!!I think you've saved a few people making the journey!
That outfit has had a lot of users, as is evident by the condition. Staff retention was not His strong point!
Divide the cost by the hours worked and I can’t understand how it could possibly pay.
Obviously it didn’t.
Farm contracting is finished, people have not been intelligent enough to realise it yet.At 750K it will not pay
That is a very bold statementFarm contracting is finished, people have not been intelligent enough to realise it yet.

Is the farmer going to be able to pay the rate necessary to enable a profitable business for the contractor?Who’s going to do it then if the farmer doesn’t want to?
Contract farming is still contracting?
Paul, I am not sure that it is entirely fair of you to put these photos up, put the shoe on the other foot and think how you would feel if somebody did it you?some more of the good points

The ones that will keep going will specialise on certain jobs and buying good used machinery and having an engineers ability.I see what you mean but maybe if they can’t afford to pay the contractors then the land will come up for rent ? Then possibly the contractor could rent it as he has the machines to do it with ?
Somebody will farm it , maybe neighbouring farmers I appreciate.
It’s whether you view arising difficulties positively or not .
I feel that if one door was to close on contracting as you say another one will open ?
That’s how I view most things (brexit etc) just got to be willing to adapt.
But yes my love of the job does mean that I will work silly hours when needed and possibly don’t always value it .
But as long as I enjoy it I don’t mind , now I’m employing people I have to realistically cover that cost now which has made me study things harder.
In agreement though I do think the cost of machines has got out of kilter with things lately and why I’ve gone for good second hand when I can .
Hopefully manufacturers if sales drop will get real ?
Just my positive spin on it
Photo's were in the catalog for all to see any way, I like to take pride my kit & if for some reason it was all to sell I would be happy for photos of it all to be on the internet , i still never got a phone call from him so that maybe talks you some thingPaul, I am not sure that it is entirely fair of you to put these photos up, put the shoe on the other foot and think how you would feel if somebody did it you?
And yes I know It will never happen to you ect ect.
You want to see a proper financial spread sheet from a silaging contractor?
