Fendt change to Trimble for Varioguide

Thanks for that, Will that be a lot cheaper than buy from Trimble ?
I'd say buying it now at time of tractor purchase you wont find a much cheaper fully integrated RTK steering solution for a Fendt. Even buying it later through parts it will still be cheaper than competitor offering.

Its certainly a lot less than the previous in-house VarioGuide offering. But by all means get quotes from a Trimble dealer to put in their own dedicated screen and steering/receiver to compare with.

The Trimble AG382 receiver as part of VarioGuide can only be bought from an Agco dealer. The otherwise (hardware) identical Trimble AG372 receivers wont work through VarioGuide.

If you order the tractor steer ready now, then it will come with the VD03 steering controller fitted. You then need at least a receiver and RTK unlock (and optionally an internal or external radio if your correction is coming from a mast).

Should also be able to connect another external modem, like an ArWest for further RTK mast connectivity options...[/QUOTE]

Which settings are necessary for external radio modem ?
Thanks

The modem comms parameters can be set through the Varioterminal for the external modem.

You will need to make up or otherwise obtain a small adapter lead to plug the radio modem into the loom - though that's pretty straightforward as only 5 wires are needed.

Edit: techically only 4 wires as @Robt kindly pointed out - as data transmission is only one way from radio into the receiver (but I always wire Tx and Rx in through force of habit). The other two wires are switched 12v supply and Gnd to power the radio.

Sorry to bring this up again but things might be clearer now?
I’ve a 724 on topcon and it’s awful but that’s an issue .
But I’m looking at a second hand 936 which the chap has had running on his own rtk network so is keen to keep the receiver in roof ( seems fair ) , what are my options? It was on the topcon signal api 4 etc , but if there’s a chance of changing to Trimble or Deere even I would as not happy with the topcon egnos etc.
Question is if I’m buying a new roof receiver would the newer Trimble offered by fendt plug in to roof and be useable with varioguide etc?
Obviously might require change of signal etc?
Or can I now get green star through fendt screen with just the dome costs and possibly bridging link? Again using varioguide screen?

Thank you for some clarity

Solsteer have done quite a few Fendts with Greenstar, no idea on costs just a Greenstar user on a none green tractor and interested in that kind of stuff.:bookworm::shy::love:

Newer Trimble plug in unit was from early 2016 models onwards. I get on well with it, it’s cheaper than Greenstar, EGNOS is worse than SF1, but I’ve found RTX better than SF2.

I couldn’t say, honestly.
When we originally enquired in 2015, the GPS options given to us were a full Topcon, or a greenstar conversion unit. (Was it Reinhard/Reichard or something?)

Ok thanks guys I suppose I need to find out exactly what it has on it as seems 2012 was a changeover year?
Around then. Basically when the first of the "current" shape arrived with the 10.4" VarioTerminal.

Forgot to add, but you'll need a revised bracket to hold the square Trimble receiver in the sunroof, in lieu of the circular Topcon AGI-4 receiver.

Speak to your dealer, should be able to get you a decent discounted price on the gear needed to changeover from one receiver style to the other.

Not sure if you're in TNS territory, but they're running a VarioGuide training day on 4th March in Newmarket

Going to try and get greenstar through it now.
As far as I can tell I need greenstar dome, greenstar display (1800 onwards) and magic box to talk to fendt steering so I can use the built in steering.
Is there any other / cheaper ways magic box circa £2500

Agra gps is the box I’m referring to.
Anyone done this?
Also worth speaking to Chaunce Barrett who founded Solsteer based West Sussex.

They build basically the same bridge kit as AgraGPS (Canadian) here in the UK. Sold via Farols etc.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
