It is expensive but get good silage yields from it. Seems to perform better thsn nitram here - we're high rainfall on acid soils. That sounds expensive nitrogen, that’s the same as paying £265 for 34 1/2
Not at the time however I have bought off same rep for 40 years who has looked after us very well. Whenever I price check him he has always been cheapest.
There are still some people you can trust.
That was the same way I was calculating it. We have had land tested and limed it too. That sounds expensive nitrogen, that’s the same as paying £265 for 34 1/2
We use Yara. Their delivery is usually ok but there can be a bit of a wait at busy times. Full loads are fine but it would appear that part loads are held until there’s something else coming into the area to make a load up.Always had problems with mvf unfortunately. Changed supplier this time, prompt delivery of Yara product, about 15 tonnes, although still awaiting an odd 3 tonnes (still Yara) supposed to be coming on another lorry, and that was almost 3 weeks ago...
We soil test and lime too - mainly Buxton ground limestone but use burnt lime on far out/hill land that's difficult to get to. All I can think of is that CAN may be kinder on soil microbes etc. That was the same way I was calculating it. We have had land tested and limed it too.
The CAN I was offered was 25% nitrogen which looked dear to me in comparison depending on how much you value the lime

I was watching a Yara web cast earlier in the week and even they said that CAN & 34.5 was the same thing and performed exactly the same?It is expensive but get good silage yields from it. Seems to perform better thsn nitram here - we're high rainfall on acid soils.

We buy all ours through ACT....never a problem so far with deliveryOrdered full load Nitram Thurs, delivery tomorrow...
Purchased from ACT
They must be wanting rid of it.I was watching a Yara web cast earlier in the week and even they said that CAN & 34.5 was the same thing and performed exactly the same?
When I said the same thing meant both Ammonium Nitrate and performed the same .i.e. Same yield, no benefit from the calciumThey must be wanting rid of it.
Otherwise my calculator wants a clout.
I’ve had a fair bit soil tested and altered fert and lime as agronomist advised. Calcium lime was the preferred prescription as mag was too high. Seemed a dear way to buy lime the CAN I mean.Calcium is useful in high Mg soils and if you don’t want the wrong people making bombs out of AN
I thought it has a liming effect according to my man?CAN has no neutralising value
The effect is more that it doesn’t really acidify rather than actually raise pHI thought it has a liming effect according to my man?
