I dont have enough knowledge of the whole industry to comment one way or the other. My question is fert was £600ish a ton then the government subsidies the manufactures to continue production but the price did not come down, if the government had not subsidies them would the price of Fert be even higher or are the manufactures taking a bigger profit?
During the short run they were subsidised you may have noticed CF prices were initially below imported prices, so they were cheaper than elsewhere. It was only for a few weeks they were supported.

Household energy bills likely to go up 50% in spring , dont sound great for fert plants opening up again

It doesn’t sound great for me either. My 4 year fixed price electricity contract runs out in June.😱
I was hoping we might of got back to something closer to normality by then.:(

I’m thinking it’d have to be all spring barley with a good dose of pig slurry / muck before drilling . Then shut the gate fertiliser wise , or umbilical slurry on to winter crops . That’s all my neighbouring pig farmer does on his one field of winter barley . I combine it for him and it’s usually 2.5 ton acre . If barley stays at £200 ton it’s £500 plus straw per acre to play with.
Back in the bad old days when wheat was £60 ton. We grew a lot of spring barley with turnips between and muck applied pre drilling, there Was a bit of winter barley to spread harvest but not more than 1/4 of cereal area.
No more than 70 units on anything ment a lorry load of fert went a long way.

I was told that was to put the frighteners on the importer, it undercut them considerably for a day or two to make them nervous to commit to another load.
