Bought my Sulphur today, one load of Calcifert S. Price similar to last year so obviously the cost of SO3 hasn’t altered much.

Holy Moley!

At the risk of appearing to be very smug, I bought ours back in June at £266, about £100/t more than the year before. At the time I was very uncertain that I had done the right thing, it would appear it was! At £518 its just under double the price!(£532)

I like his use of “I know these fert prices are way too high and you want to walk away”. Shows an understanding of farmers position and perspective.

Many in the trade struggle to do this and just come across as salesmen who are unable to see an alternative perspective. That alienates farmers pretty quickly.

remember we all have bought some fertiliser at reasonable prices compared to the present but we will all have to buy more at some time in the future hopefully all will settle down but these prices are much too dear and if they stayed at these prices we will all be in trouble

If you plant wheat, you're committed to throwing inputs at it. I simply can't cut fert rates and make as much money. Although I'd balk at £600 for AN.
how much more will fertiliser cost per acre at these prices i think it will be 80 pounds in my case spray prices will also rise in northern ireland we still receive single farm payment of about 100£ per acre but if there was no sub margins would be very tight even at 160£ for barley

Yes, you are right.

My post was more in astonishment at how much the price had moved compared to its start out price, what, 4 months ago. Even then we all thought that the new season prices were too high.

If I had to buy it all at current prices it would be upsetting. As it is I'm looking at £37/AC dearer.

Don't forget phosphate is also very dear.
