Taking to a fellow yesterday that had a delivery of can27 last week and it was still warm, he had bought early at a reasonable price how does that add up? It had come from Bristol then the wagon was going to teeside to pick nitrogen up to take back to Plymouth 🤔

Question is will you be buying early next year
That's a tough one, if the price starts 340 ish then maybe, north of 400, Hmmm not sure, depends if I can cover high fert prices with a good forward sale
I suppose the equation is in there somewhere
Sold feed wheat at ÂŁ155 to pay for ÂŁ288 fert
So ÂŁ230 feed wheat can cover fert at ÂŁ430

Only glitch in that equation is that at time of wheat sale I then had to wait 6 months for fert price

Not sure exactly what the question is, are you thinking cos it’s warm it’s just been made and therefore why is it going against an early sale? Sales need to be honoured somehow…

Potash? I really tried to like foliar potash but for the ÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁ I gave up and went back to using kaynitro. Obviously not an option this year! Mostly digestate now. Potentially this year I will have neither digestate or kaynitro, so I'll use a foliar. It will be kayman s or kayman plus from nutrel as they are just down the road.
It is bloody expensive and as Mag levels are dropping I'm not sure whether I should still be using it. I started using it as I was scared the Mg was locking the potash up and wanted a readily available source for the flag leaf. Max yields have improved slightly since I started and the average is way better and more stable.

What will gas prices for drying grain next year be? I got letter saying mines up 9p at moment. It’s hardly in line with what they say? Will it be cheaper just to take deductions?

What product do you use for the liquid?

I was of a similar mindset. Constantly found low potash in crops. However improvements in crop have only just payed for the product. And powder / liquid is the dearest way. So if it's belt tightening, that will be the first to go.

I'm probably bang on that for winter cereals by the time I add on various sulphate nutrients. Someone tried to tell me the other day that S was overrated! I used a lot more when I home mixed and used a lot of AS.
Is there not an issue with the acidity of AS when it’s used in large amounts?
I seem to remember being told that every tonne of AS neutralises a tonne of lime, but I can’t find anything online, and it’s been 30 years since I sat in a chemistry lab or calculated the ratio of acids and bases in a neutralisation experiment.

That's why I moved away from it, just use UAN + S bought in now.

Just managed to order my last two loads of AN @ 630, so that’s my full requirements booked in for this season.
This will make my average fert price just under 500 which is still way too much but heard new year prices possibly not much below 700 for AN so better the devil you know!
