I know people with it. A mixture of painkillers, herbal remedies, meditation, doing gentle exercise by starting with a few stretches at certain times every day and building up the amount of time spent doing them very slowly, usually increasing by 10% when they feel able, and pacing themselves so they don't do too much, helps them live with it.
A low dose of medications like amitriptyline can help you sleep and block some of the pain through the night

Hi
I have had FMS for the last 14 yrs and know how bloody horrible it is.
I'm no where still without the symptoms but a lot more comfortable with this list of medication
Amytriptline tabs
Zappain
Gabapentine
Tramadol
No point telling you what dosege I'm on as were all different.
Good luck.

My symptoms now include my right eye to wander about on its own accord?
Another strange sign of FMS is your finger nails have pronounced ridges on them?
I also have a horrible pain in my lower left ribs.
And not to mention severe tinitus.
Where is the hanging tree

Thanks for the replies everyone
It don't sound very nice for you all and a job to treat
It is not me that has it its @farmerclare she was diagnosed a few weeks ago
I was trying to find out if anything would help her,
she gets terrible pain in her arms and legs the pain moves about and she gets very tired as well

I suffered for 3 years with Fibromyalgia/ME symptoms without ever being given a firm diagnosis. My symptoms subsided after a very nasty case of tonsillitis put me in hospital and I had IV painkillers and antibiotics, over the following 6 weeks the symptoms subsided to a level that I can now live a normal life but there is always the fear that another illness will trigger a relapse.
The 'professionals' have very little idea what triggers it or what causes it.

I've always thought ME was like an extreme case of glandular fever.
Know of at least 3 people with fibromyalgia now. Each seems to have had a serious emotional trauma before it started. Stress seems to make it worse. Maybe they are physical symptoms of an unresolved emotional upheaval. Not saying I'm an expert or anything like that, just my subjective interpretation of it.

Tin hat on.

How do they diagnose fibromyalgia? Is it a guesstimate of symptoms like chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS = ME)?

Sorry, I should add that I wasn't belittling the condition in any way. The oh has had a lot of different issues over the last year or two and it seems rolling problems into one name or syndrome seems an easy way out for the medical profession I.e. Not really help.

I have what was diagnosed as fibromyalgia at least 15 years ago. I know compared with some people mine is mild but it is a miserable condition. The symptoms vary very much between individuals. What literally turned my life around was my wonderful GP who referred me to a Pain Management clinic in Bronllys Powys. I had a month there 12 years ago and I came home a different person. There was no treatment/drugs as such we were taught to manage our symptoms and understand the condition. Basically a form of CBT I suppose backed up with relaxation, exercises and coping strategies etc.

Im currently having a sever attack of FMS.My right leg around my knee and in the tendons from my thigh to shin are really bad and feel like there going to snap.I bought some bruffen gell today to rub on it as its cheaper than the Volterol cream and found it does help bur only for a hour or so.My car ia ill at the mo and im struggling as I'm alone.last month I had severe chest pains like when you swallow too much drink or air and your chest feels like its going to explode. I asked the nurse about it and she put the jump leads on me but the ECG said no problems. So that's another Fms sympton .Its not nice ths FMS I have considered trying the Chinese health shop next so I will report back on that..
