ADAS is seeking several Field Research Scientists looking to gain practical knowledge and experience in a research environment to work as part of a team responsible for setting up and undertaking field and plot experiments as part of the ADAS R&D agricultural and agri-environmental programs.
These are fixed-term positions for 5-6 months, preferably starting in March/April 2022 with the potential of full-time employment afterwards. Locations include Boxworth, High Mowthorpe, and Rosemaund.
You will need to be 'hands-on' and learn skills on the job and due to the seasonal nature of the work you will be required to work overtime (evenings and weekends) when needed during busy periods to ensure scientific objectives are met, and delivery within suitable weather conditions are optimised.

Our Soils, Crops and Water Business carry out a wide range of technical field, glasshouse and laboratory studies in a wide range of agricultural crops, specialising in Crop Pathology, Physiology, Soils and Nutrition, Entomology and Weeds.

Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with sampling and disease monitoring of plants
- Assisting marking out and preparation of study sites in the field
- Application of treatments, including spraying of chemicals onto trials
- Trial assessments and observations
- Preparation and processing of plant, soil and water samples and harvesting plots
- Collection and processing of data
- Qualification in an agricultural, horticultural, or plant-based science subject, or be able to demonstrate an interest and willingness to learn skills in these areas
- An ability and willingness to work overtime (evenings and weekends) during busy periods
- A full driving licence to drive manual vehicles in the UK is essential
- £19,100 - 20,500 depending on experience
