Filling In Fibre Cement Ridge

Hi All,

I'm just after some feedback, i am being asked more and more for a foam filler to fill in a fibre cement vented ridge. I have just had a sample manufactured but before i think of buying a tool for it would anybody be interested.

I am thinking along the lines of farms that have changed from live stock to industrial units and want to keep as much warmth in as possible.

Any feedback will be useful.

I have a similar problem , but I can live with it as it's just a workshop and I want the ventilation .
For general repairs and bodging I've used car body filler .
It's cheap for a big 5 litre tin and sets up in minutes .

Have many people who have fibre cement roofs with vented ridge caps found any problem with snow driving through the vents? We seem to be taking lots of enquires for a filler to seal the ridge vents ( as above in this post ) and I'm trying to decided whether it's worth having a large volume of the fillers run off, the volumes I am thinking should mean we can supply the vent fillers in super seal at £3.19+ vat each.

Are they thick enough material to stand in the gap and be stable, you'd think they would need to be at least an inch thick to be rigid enough to stay put?
My idea would be to clean away any dust, lichen etc, and butter the edges with something like Tiger Seal or similar to hold it in place permanently.
If it is a good permanent solution, the price you suggest is not out the way. But the system is costing near 1/3 the purchase price of new 750mm girth closed ridge cappings at that.

They would be 25mm thick, we can offer a PE version that would be cheaper but the Supaseal is a far better quality foam which has a 25 year performace guarantee. Other added bonus are the birds, mice and rats don't seem to like eating the Supaseal foam compared to the PE foam.

We now only stock Supaseal foam fillers for all of our profiles as i think it is a better product.

These are designed to be a snug fit but with all foam fillers we would advise the use of a butyl mastic (or similar) to keep them i place.
