Finger bar hedge cutter.

Hi first post. has anyone knowledge of hydraulics, I have acquired a cutter head the motor is a omm 32, that I think means 32 cubic centimeters,
I have a old sapper bomford, I would like to know if I can use the finger bar on the Bomford,
I don't know the flow rate at a given pto speed for this motor, will the flow of oil be to much for this omm 32 motor,
and can the flow be adjusted to suit the flow from the bomford to this small motor.
Thanks in advance.

No problem reducing flow. Just use an adjustable flow divider which will split the flow to what you require and send the rest back to the reservoir via the return.

The last time i supplied a hyd motor for a finger bar mower it was a Danfoss OMP50. The input flow from the hedge cutter was only 37lpm. The yellow valve in the picture looks like a very old Dowty pressure regulation valve.

unless you could gear it down some how, finger bar hedgetrimmers used to go slow,...

well slower than fingerbar mowers anyway..

hi on the unit it says tank on 1 side and pressure on the other side.
Tried googling it the number is a bit vague it looks like PC 55389-2, or 58389-2,
but nothing seemed to come up for it, will try some more googling.
if it is a flow control do you turn the pressure side in or out to reduce pressure don't want to put to much pressure on the motor when 1st running.
Thanks again for the replies.

got unused one in the workshop .. the one on our baler is anti clockwise / screw out for a less tight bale

i thought this type reduced pressure proportionately as well..but .i'm no expert on flow vers's pressure....

a finger bar trimmer wouldnt need huge pressure either i shouldnt think, will only be cutting an inche or so thick stuff ? to much power will mash something to bit s break a section etc.. our old one was belt driven never did get to hydraulic drive as flail came about......

Hi back again is this correct for the flow and return
The pump line is going to the tank side of the the pressure and return block.
is this right or have they been assembled wrong.

It needs to be plumbed up the other way round for the pressure relief valve to operate.

Hi Mr Happy thanks for your reply.
just got in sorted it just the way you have said.
also the valve needed adjustment no fluid getting through.
also does this slow the motor on the head down it seems to fast.
Thanks

Im shocked there is no flow going through the valve. Have you got flow coming out of the pump. The valve is won't adjust the flow to the motor it will only set the system pressure. The easiest way to adjust the motor speed is to increase or decrease the pto speed.

Update just need 2 pipes to finish the job and would like to thank all those members that contributed to this thread.
it has been taken me about a 1 month to make,
Then will have to test to see if I have not wasted my time making it.
did not make the boom that goes to Bomford. just the head.
Thanks Again
