Fitting Hydraulic Fan to Kverneland TS drill

Has anyone converted their PTO drill fan on a KV TS drill to hydraulic?

Is it as simple as fitting a hydraulic motor in place of the drive pulley on the fan, there doesn't look to be much space between fan body and frame to accommodate one?

Or is easier/better to fit a whole new unit, I see from searching old threads Weaving sell a Hyd. fan for circa £600 are these any good and any idea if will fit a TS drill.

If anyone has an early (before EVO i.e. before 2006) KV TS drill fan, some pictures of the factory fit fan and motor would be most appreciated.

I would install a low speed high torque motor where the current pto drives the belts. It will be a lot cheaper than £600.

Is this because you want to drill deeper ?

The problem is where the current PTO drives the belt is so close to one of the drills wheels that in field work, the PTO guard and wheel come into contact, more so when soil sticks the wheel.

So really want to drive the fan direct, this would also eliminate a couple of pulleys and belts.

Yes, but also when drilling cereals the wheel can still foul the PTO guard and when lifting the drill at the headland I'd like to lift it to full height without the PTO shaft chattering
Putting a motor on large pulley won't help then.

Putting a adjuster on meter drive wheel stops the need to lift as high. Unless your drill extremely shallow.

So you will need a gear motor with a shaft support bearing assemble. You only issue is space but if you make it fit it will still be cheaper than a complete fan unit.
