Flashing Transmission Oil Indicator Light

Hi all,

Have a JD 6600 at home and the hazard light for the Transmission Oil temp ( low temp one) is flashing on a daily basis once started. Have seen it over the winter but never at this time of year and it only goes out once tractor has warmed up. To be on the safe side, I don't move her until it has stopped, but this is obviously a proper nuisance!
Filters and oil changed in the past 500 hours and oil level in order. Going to change filters and oil again but could it be something else such as a sensor or something to get worried about??

It does it on my 6420, I've been wondering what is causing it. I ignore it at the moment so I'm hoping someone posts with the reason soon!

I had a similar problem on one of mine years ago, 99% certain it was cured by changing the sensor/sender.

I had this problem on my old IH 475 about 20 years ago. I took out the bulb and it has been fine since then.

I was gong to say if worries you so much. 2 layers of tape will cure it

On the front cover of the transmission if you look up off to the left side of the driveshaft(feet towards the front diff) you will see a sensor on the front cover with an 8mm nuts holding on an eyelet terminal. This is the temp sensor. replace the sensor and retest the machine. Or quick and nasty remove the sensor wiring and see if it still comes on intermittently. This will factor out the sensor and factor in the wiring(short to earth etc).

The 8mm nut usually wont undo from the sensor and breaks the sensor and the eyelet terminal. Some thing to watch out for.

The 6420 sender is on the transmission front cover to but on the bottom side and on the righthand side(feet towards front diff). It has a two wire connector and is in the lube pressure port(has lube stamped into the cover). It is also under a cover if its still there. Same applies as above- Short to ground on the wiring etc.

Change your oil filter, and clean the pickup tube screen just in case it's on for a reason
