I have just acquired a Grays flat roll, 9ft, and it is dire need of some new wooden blocks. Can anyone help with the dimensions and the best wood to use?

67mm is 2.5 inches. Most of the ones for sale are dia 67 mm which seems a. strange size.. I haven't got around to measuring the shaft yet so we will have to see as Ive only got 65 and 70 holesaw.
63.5mm for 2 and a half by my trusty abacus67mm is 2.5 inches.
I bought a flat roll for scrap money in the spring and made a pair of bearings with a piece off oak post (was at least 40 years old) and a hole saw. I surprised myself that not only did I have a hole saw just the right size, but I found it too!
It probably would have been quicker to buy them, but where's the fun in that? Plus, they would have cost more than the rolls.
